What A Week – Tonsillitis, Fevers & Exhaustion!

Well, what a week it has been. I am so glad to be sailing into the weekend as I am bleddy exhausted! The week started off with Amelie burning up during Sunday evening, her temperature was high and she was complaining of a sore throat. Earlier that day she had a barky cough, not like croup more of a whooping cough so I knew she was coming down with something. I took a look back her throat on Monday morning before school and there it was – the huge white spot on her enlarged tonsil. Off to the doctors we went, I don’t know about you but I hate taking both…

    The Diet Plate®

Summer is well and truly here, people are getting ready for holidays abroad or stay-cations in the UK and others have returned from a holiday feeling sluggish and bloated after indulging in the all inclusive food at the hotel… sound about right? Yup, the latter is most definitely me, I always feel like I need to eat a huge salad when I return from a holiday abroad, my body craves fresh, healthy food. I’m always starting a “diet” on a Monday – but never actually sticking to it. When I say diet, I actually mean eating clean, cutting out treats during the week, no takeaways and eating as healthy as I…

    Paulos Circus – Topsham, Exeter

We love visiting Paulos Circus and have been many times before, it is a traditional family fun show that just gets better each time you visit.  I was extremely excited to be invited to the opening night of the all new #HereTodayTour at Darts Farm, Topsham. As we have seen the show before I was expecting the same or similar set up, however, as this is a brand new show for 2017 there were lots of new faces, an amazing magic act that left us all whispering “how did they do that?”, a plate-spinning clown, the ring of death, beautiful ladies twirling high up through the bigtop and the children’s favourite clown – Mr N.…

Quality Time – Budleigh Beach, Devon

It has been scorching in Exmouth and whilst it was far too hot to be outside yesterday, today was a little cooler. I planned to take Charlie out for the morning to Budleigh beach as we had not been there since the winter. I really wanted to spend some quality time with him away from my phone, away from the TV and away from mundane chores. Even though Charlie is home with me most of the time we don’t spend that much quality time together as I’m always busy with school runs, reading afternoons, food shopping, housework or toddler groups and Charlie just kind of tags along. Your second child…

    Mum Hacks – Tanith Carey

Being a parent to however many children you are constantly chasing your tail. What with housework, school runs, baby/toddler groups, play dates, unexpected visitors, etc etc – us parents are run ragged. I’m certainly all for making my life easier and the Mum Hacks book by Tanith Carey is a little bible of brilliance. I’m THAT Mum…

A post I published for Meetothermums, I hope you like it. I am that mum who… Uses the TV as a babysitter when I need to get jobs done or just have 5 minutes to myself Gives the children chocolate more than once a week, I use it as a negotiator, bribe and treat Falls for every trick in the book when it comes to reasoning with the children, I give in way too much Lets the children sleep in my bed whenever they want, I have co-slept with both kiddies and am not ashamed to admit that I love it Eats all of the children’s sweet treats and tells…

It Really Does Brighten My Mood – Chit Chat

For the last 20 billion days it has been raining in Devon and I’m not gonna lie, it has really depressed me and zapped all motivation, energy and good vibes. I had to dig out my winter attire after packing it all away when we returned from our holiday, get out the Chelsea boots and find some sort of coat. I’ve not surrendered to the ‘mum coat’ yet I have avoided that but I think I am going to have to get one as I cannot wear a thick parka coat with a big furry hood as I will boil over. There’s nothing to do in the rain apart from busy…

    Meal Plan In Pictures

I thought I would take a different approach to my meal plan for this week. I love reading other people’s meal plan ideas but would like to see what their food looks like. So, I have put my meal plan for last week into pictures for you. Monday Today I had sausages, jacket potato and broccoli as we had nothing left in the cupboards. Tuesday I made a chicken and mushroom risotto from the Lean in 15 cook book. This is the first time I have ever made a risotto and it tasted amazing, really filling and full of flavour. Wednesday This is butter and chipotle chicken, it is usually served…

    Holiday Favourites

Here are my holiday favourites that were used every day in Majorca. I wish I was still on a sun drenched beach sipping a pina colada and not wearing jeans, boots and a winter coat! Travel Detergent This Superdrug travel detergent was amazing, it worked so well on the children’s sandy swimwear, soiled swim shorts and underwear. You can use it in warm or cold water. Definitely a must have for any holiday. Squash If you have a fussy child like I do who will not drink water then I totally recommend this Robinsons Sqaush’d. It is a great size to carry around in your bag, so easy to use as…
