Weekend Adventures – Ikea, Quince Honey Farm & Pub Lunches

I hope you all had a brilliant weekend, but, seriously where has October gone? I can’t believe the BEST month of the year is nearly over – booo! I also can’t believe we have been in our new house for a month, time just dashes by doesn’t it. Saturday Saturday started great, I got a notification on my phone to say I’d won a family pass to Quince Honey Farm in South Molton. I never win anything so I was very excited by this news. We still needed a few bits and bobs for the house and what better place to pick things up (crap you don’t need) – Ikea.…

    What I Ate Today

I made it through the day without anymore illness – yay! Here’s what I ate today… Breakfast Yoghurt with a fruit layer, I love these. They are so delicious and not chalky like some thick breakfast yoghurt, plus this keeps me full for hours. Lunch For lunch I made a quick salad of spicy turkey (thin) steak, peppers, boiled egg and a dollop of extra light mayo. Snack I don’t know what it is but, whenever I have a sickness bug I’m ravenous the next day (when I’m feeling better). I was craving some choccie biscuits and a good old cuppa tea. Dinner I made turkey mince bolognese for dinner…

    Mum Down

I had every intention of publishing a ‘What I Ate Today’ post yesterday, but unfortunately after my breakfast I was poorly. Mr K took the kiddies to school which was lovely, I pottered about the house/washed my hair etc. I started to feel a bit icky so I had an apple and a glass of water. Big mistake!! I suddenly felt so sick, dizzy, tummy pains with a headache. I had to nip to Asda for a few bits so trundled on, I wish I just stayed at home. As soon as I got out of the car I thought I was going to throw up in the car park,…

    Homemade Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potato fries/wedges/chips, whatever you call them are an absolute favourite of mine. They are so easy to make and taste delicious, today I’m sharing how I make them at home. Ingredients As you can see there are minimal ingredients to making sweet potato fries. I like to use the Fry Light Coconut oil spray, some seasoning and, depending on the size of the sweet potato either one big one or two smaller ones. Method Pre-heat the oven to around 200 degrees. Start by rinsing the potato to remove any mud or other debris. Next chop the potato in half using a sharp knife, I then chop it into quarters.…

Do More Of What Makes You Happy – World Mental Health Day – Moving House

“Do more of what makes you happy” – isn’t that the saying? It is World Mental Health Day today and this quote got me thinking. For me how I feel inside my head is not just about anxiety or feeling down/depressed, I think mental health covers a vast selection of emotions, feelings, thoughts and physical experiences. Recently (actually, for the past 6 months) I have been going through a real battle with myself. I don’t know whether it is due to the move and the stress of uprooting our family to a town that we know little about and removing our children from a school they loved, putting them into…

Weekend Adventures – Taunton, Pumpkin Spice Lattes & Orchards

Good morning, I hope everyone is well and had a great weekend. Monday morning and I’m really not feeling life today, how bad is that? I’ve no idea why I woke up in such a grumpy mood (hormones), I’m tired and have a horrible worried feeling in my tummy – classic anxiety. After such a lovely weekend I should be feeling happy but I’m just going to roll with this glum mood and hope it passes quickly. Saturday It was a rainy old day in Somerset on Saturday, but we didn’t let that stop us from nipping into Taunton for a coffee at Coffee #1 (my current new favourite coffee…

Autumn School Run Outfits of the Week

I used to plan my outfits out before bed so I could be organised the following morning. It is still pretty warm in the South West I have struggled to know what to wear, the day starts off freezing but by lunchtime it has hotted up and I’m sweating. Here are some of the outfits I’ve been wearing over the last couple of weeks, I like to be comfy but still smart (ish) for the school run. And yes, I am one of those mum’s everyone likes to hate on – I put my make up on first thing and do my hair so I am set for the day.…

    October Goals

October is finally here. This is my favourite month of the year when Autumn is in full swing, Halloween is just around the corner and I can properly get cosy. This month is a little different for me as I really feel the time has come to set myself some goals – something I haven’t done since the beginning of the year – and now life is calming down slightly the time is right. I think the start of a new month is the perfect time to change things if you aren’t happy with the way life is going. These are my personal goals, very much health related as the…
