Christmas Food & Drinks Guide 2017

Possibly the most exciting time at Christmas is all the food and drink we consume, it is a big deal in our house. Everyone loves to splash out during the festive season, the shops are full of luxurious food and Christmas bubbles – it is hard to resist.

Here is my guide on this years delicious offerings, not only for you to enjoy at home but you can also gift them or use to make a thoughtful hamper for a loved one.

Amelia Rope Chocolate

I love the story behind Amelia Rope Chocolate, it is very authentic and her love for producing the most delectable chocolate goes a long way. Initially Amelia started up in a kitchen in London, she has appeared on Masterchef twice and has won awards for her truffles and chocolates. Amelia’s chocolate is luxury in a bar, it is the perfect Christmas treat, the quality is of the highest and the taste is mouth watering.

Once you dive into one bar you are left wanting more. The range of chocolate comes in the form of scrumptious bars to choose from such as Honeycomb & Sea Salt Milk, Salted Butter Caramel Milk and Quinoa Puffs Dark to name but a few. Also on offer are chocolate Kernals which are boxes of delight, these chocolates are an excellent gift option but also you can add them to a hamper as an extra treat.

Walkers Shortbread Red & White Christmas Tin

The new Walkers Shortbread Red & White Christmas tin is so festive, it really is Christmas in a tin. Once opened you will be met with 46 mini Christmas trees to enjoy, they are little bites of utter deliciousness and go well with a cuppa for us adults or a warm mug of milk for the littles. Walkers Shortbread have a fantastic range of Christmas treats this year such as Christmas Mini Mince Pies, Spiced Orange & Cranberry Tarts and Eccclefechan Tarts, which would fit in nicely within a luxury hamper or a nice surprise for children to find in a Christmas Eve basket. Of course after you have scoffed the shortbread you can reuse the gorgeous tin, this year Walkers have gone for a Scandi theme which I can’t get enough of, it retails at £9.35.

Spice Pots Indian Express Selection

Who doesn’t love a turkey curry after Christmas? Spice Pots are a great addition to any kitchen, there are 12 recipe suggestions for busy parents online that you can rustle up within 30 minutes and over 50 recipes that are healthy and easy to follow. A great spice selection like this is an ideal gift for any foodie this Christmas, they would make a great stocking filler. You could add the Spice Pots to any meat, fish or vegetable dish to give a dash of flavour, add to starters, side dishes, nibbles and mains for an extra kick, the possibilities are endless.

Encona – The Carolina Reaper

I’m not going to lie we are massive spice fans in our house, the hotter the better. Encona have outdone themselves with the new Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce this festive season. This chilli sauce is blended with tomatoes, cumin, orange and garlic – the perfect combination of flavours to marinade any meat or fish dish. The Reaper is the hottest chilli pepper in the world and will blow your head off.  You can add the Carolina to absolutely any dish to spice it up, if you are brave enough! It is a great little stocking filler or hamper addition that will leave you wanting more.

Belvoir Fruit Farms – Christmas Cordial & Festive Fruit Punch

Belvoir Fruit Farms have an exquisite range of festive drinks to enjoy with or without alcohol this Christmas. All Belvoir products are hand made on a farm in Lincolnshire, there are no artificial preservatives, colourings or sweeteners, they use natural ingredients. The Festive Fruit Punch is bursting with festive flavours, blends of cranberry, orange, blackcurrant, lime juice, cinnamon and nutmeg are mixed with natural spring water. There are so many options on how you present the punch, you can enjoy it as a warm fruit tea or go all out and get the party going with a huge bowl of punch mixed with vodka and slices of fruit to accompany it.

The packaging is really important to me when choosing gifts at Christmas time, I want inviting colours and luxury when shopping for products and both drinks are extremely well presented. The Christmas Cordial is rich in colour with mouth watering flavours, honey, lemon, ginger and spiced winter berries make this cordial the ideal drink for cosying up by the fire.

Crafted is a new brand of fruit juice drinks to enjoy all year round. I could imagine pouring these delicious soft drinks to accompany a Christmas day breakfast, they are full of flavour and completely free of any added sweeteners or refined sugars – perfect. The range of drinks available this season comprise of Still Cloudy Lemonade, Apple Lime & Mint, Pineapple Coconut & Lime and Mango & Passion Fruit. They are a tasty alternative to alcoholic cocktails and other mixed drinks. I would love to receive Crafted drinks in a hamper or a thoughtful basket made up of tasty treats. Warner Edwards – Victoria’s Rhubarb Gin & Botanical Garden Honeybee Gin

Finally, something a little alcoholic and sophisticated to tempt your taste buds. Everywhere you look there are an array of different flavours of Gin, Warner Edwards are show casing the new Victoria’s Rhubarb Gin and also Honeybee Gin, which was ranked ‘Spirit of the Month’ during October by Fortnum & Mason.

Victoria’s Rhubarb Gin

This gin is made from the crop of rhubarb which was originally grown in the kitchen garden of Buckingham Palace during the reign of Queen Victoria, it is soaked in history. The gin would be a taste sensation poured over ice as the rhubarb hits the spot with its bursting sweet and tangy flavours.

Honeybee Gin

Botanical Garden Honeybee Gin is zesty and floral in flavour but infused with honey gives an exquisite sweet and silky texture. It is new to the Warner Edwards range and is just as luxurious as the other gins that are on offer this festive season. Gin really is the exciting accompaniment to any party this season.
