Half term means one thing – rain! Isn’t it typical that it always rains during the school holidays? I wasn’t going to let it defeat me today, usually we stay in and get the crafts out but I really fancied getting out and about this morning. I rallied the children up, we popped our wellies and waterproofs on and headed to Bicton Park Botanical Gardens, we haven’t been to Bicton since Easter so it was a well overdue visit.
I thought it would be really fun to explore and adventure the grounds of Bicton in the rain. The children absolutely loved it, there are lots of little streams to paddle in and a big long walk to undertake. We avoided soft play and also the play park, sounds mean I know but the kiddies were quite happy to get some fresh air, run around, pick up massive sticks, get soggy feet from splashing in the stream, look out for squirrels and be little. I love days like this as it isn’t something we would normally get to experience, being in the rain having fun together.
I felt like a granny walking around noticing all the pretty flowers and trees, I definitely blame Instagram for that though as there are so many lovely things to snap. After our long walk we went into the shop I said the children could get some marbles. They are now making a big marble run together chatting about their sparkly marbles and which ones they are going to get next time.
