A couple of years ago we were wondering how to celebrate the festive season with the children. We usually pop to Otter Nurseries as it is such good magical fun, but we decided to give Sail With Santa a go.
Sail With Santa is located down on the beautiful Marina in Exmouth, hosted by the ever popular Stuartline Cruises. We were met at the dock and given our special tickets to board the boat, all dressed up in our best Christmas attire we hopped aboard a lovely warm festive boat and set sail.
The boat is obviously all kitted out with Christmas decs, snacks, drinks and Christmas tunes playing to really amp up the Christmassy vibe. During our trip the children were treated to face paints, Amelie and Charlie decided on Rudolph and I have to say they were very good. The kiddies were so excited to be sailing along the River Exe and enjoyed some time looking out of the window trying to spot seals. If you are worried about getting chilly on board then don’t, the boat is fully heated with no chance of anyone getting cold.
We headed up to the top deck for a looksee, the children were delighted to find out they could in fact take in turns to drive the boat – with the help of the Captain of course. This was an amazing experience for them so I snapped lots of pictures for their memory box. It was quite cold on the top deck as you can imagine so we went back to our drinks and waited to visit the big man himself.
Santa’s Grotto is below deck in a cosy little cabin all decorated in lovely traditional colours. The kiddies were asked what they wanted for Christmas and were given a gift which they thought was great. The cruise lasts around an hour which is a good amount of time especially for younger children and I think it is excellent value for money at just £10 a ticket.
The staff were fab they really got into the magical spirit with all of the families, it left us with a warm fuzzy Christmassy feeling. I would recommend this to everyone, it is such a lovely tradition to start and you will not be disappointed. We have booked again this year to go with Amelie and Charlie’s cousins which I am so excited about, mainly to watch the little ones make some Christmas memories with their family, plus I’m sure there will be a glass of mulled wine for the adults.
