I really enjoy cooking from scratch, some may think it takes too long but personally I love to know what has gone into my food and make sure there are no hidden extras in there. I used to buy my turkey burgers from Asda, the sweet chilli ones are so good but as I have changed supermarkets – I now shop in Aldi – I have no need to buy them. Making turkey burgers is so quick and easy I prepared this recipe whilst my children were eating dinner so time really isn’t an excuse not to give them a bash as they literally take 10 minutes if that to prepare.
450g Turkey Mince – makes around 6 burgers
Jerk Seasoning – or whatever seasoning you choose to put in is fine
Preheat your oven at 190 C.
Lay out a large piece of cling film on the counter, I used the chopping board to do this and place your turkey mince on top of it.
Add the seasoning of your choice, I chose chilli flakes and jerk seasoning as we love spicy food.
Wrap the turkey mince up and give it a good bash/punch/kneed until all of the mince is a bit mushy and the spices are mixed in well. I realise you could just put this in a bowl and do this method of mixing but I don’t like touching or mixing the mince (I’m strange like that) so this method works for me.
Once the mince is all mixed up add a few extra sprinkles of spices.
Lay out some grease proof paper onto a baking tray, pick out a small handful of the mince and roll into balls – a bit like a meatball – then pat into a burger shape and place on the paper.
Once you have made your burgers put them in the oven for around 25 minutes, turn half way through cooking.
After 25 minutes check the burger is cooked all the way through and serve. I like to make these burgers for lunches or have them handy in the fridge as a snack with houmous – yum!
