How To: 5 Minute Crafts For Kids – Fire Breathing Kitchen Tube Dragon

I thought I would share a quick 5 minute craft idea for kids. We have been collecting various cardboard boxes, toilet tubes, egg boxes etc. My two love crafting and getting creative, it keeps them occupied for ages and there is nothing better than getting all the glue, sequins, pom poms and googly eyes out.

This morning Charlie made a fire breathing dragon from an old kitchen roll tube. Here’s how he did it…

What You Will Need:-

  • An old kitchen roll tube
  • Coloured paper
  • Glue
  • Pom poms
  • Googly Eyes
  • Tissue Paper

How To:-

First you want to cover the kitchen roll tube with your choice of coloured paper. We glued the tube and rolled it over the paper in order to cover the whole tube.

You will be left with excess paper at each end, carefully fold the paper into the ends of the tube – no need for glue at this stage.

Carefully cut strips of tissue paper to make the “fire”, once you have done this glue the inside of the tube so you can stick the tissue paper to this.

Once you have the fire all stuck down, glue on your pom poms – 1 set for eyes and another smaller set for the nostrils. Add googly eyes to this and you are all set.

This is such a fun activity for children to do and very easy. Let me know if you make a fire breathing dragon!
