Summer 2018 Favourites

We have reached the end of the summer holidays, the weather has cooled slightly but the sun is still shinning. September is usually a beautiful month and I’m hoping to get the most out of it. I thought I would share a few of my favourite items that I have been loving this summer.

One & Eight Jewellery

I was very kindly sent a stunning necklace from One & Eight, who are a local company based in South Devon. They create gorgeous handmade porcelain earrings, bracelets and necklaces which are glazed and fired before adding elegant colour. Each piece is made from sterling silver or gold vermeil, and packaged in a glass bottle which looks like a special message in a bottle, such amazing attention to detail. I’ve worn this necklace non stop during summer and can’t wait to style it with cosy knits and blouses for the Autumn/Winter.

Saltwater Sandals

I’ve raved about these sandals numerous times and think they have been the best purchase of this season. They go with every outfit whether it is casual jeans or cute dresses, they have worn so well and aren’t scuffed or tatty. They will certainly last for a few years yet.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine – Gail Honeyman

After seeing every man and his dog reading this book I had to see what all the fuss was about. I’ll admit I did find it hard to get into but once I did there was no putting it down. It did make me laugh out loud lots of times and I think everyone can relate to Eleanor at some points during this story.

Why Mummy Drinks – Gill Sims

I loved this book, in places it was a bit far-fetched but overall was a brilliant read. I’m going to start Why Mummy Swears when the kiddies go back to school so I have some peace when I’m reading. If you are looking for a light-hearted, funny read then this book is for you.

New Look Top

I have worn this top to death, I bought the powder blue colour also. I always get so many lovely comments when I wear this top. It goes so well with jeans, shorts and even a denim skirt. I’ll be saving this one for next summer.

Eylure Eyelashes

I used to wear false eyelashes all the time, then I got eyelash extensions which are a god send for any mum. But the upkeep of extensions was getting annoying so I thought I would go back to falsies. I used these for a wedding I recently attended, they stayed on all day and even into the early hours, really lightweight and affordable.

Nakd Bars

I can’t be without these scrumptious bars, I’ve bought them for years and always have one handy for those snack attacks. Generally I will have one for either breakfast or lunch with a natural protein yoghurt. They come in so many delicious flavours, Charlie is very partial to these as well so I have to hide them.

The Ordinary Skin Care

I was recently introduced to The Ordinary Skin Care and did a bit of research as to what products would work for me. This skin care range is extremely affordable and the products are amazing. I bought the caffeine solution for under my eyes, the exfoliation peeling solution and the vitamin C suspension cream. I have been using all three for around a month and have noticed a difference to my face, I’ve even had compliments on how my skin is looking so it must be doing something good. Although I’m not that silly and realise that my skin isn’t as tight and line free as it was pre kids – they’ve literally sucked the life out of me!

Dorothy Perkins Bag

The straw bag was an Instagram essential this summer, everyone had the Topshop circle straw bag but that one didn’t really float my boat. I couldn’t imagine filling it with all my rubbish and the kiddies bits and bobs, it just wouldn’t be large enough. But then I found this beaut from Dorothy Perkins, it is a bucket bag with tons of space and hidden pockets. I have used this all summer long it has stood the test of time with lots of trips to the beach and also has been used as a shopper when I’ve picked bits up from the supermarket. I’ll be sad to put it away after the summer.

What items have you been obsessed with this summer?
