So what is the Letterbox Cake? The Letterbox Cake is the baby of the bakerdays family. Being just 5” in diameter, it fits perfectly through the Letterbox, making it the perfect Valentine’s gift if you are apart from your loved one this Valentine’s Day.

When my cake arrived it was in immaculate condition, the box was undamaged and the contents were all intact.

Looking at the box I was unsure of what I would find inside as it didn’t look big enough to fit a cake in. However when I opened it I was most impressed with what I found. There was a cake tin, a little card, a packet of love hearts and a bakerdays leaflet. Charlie had his eye on the love hearts as soon as he saw them, I thought they were a lovely touch.

I love that the cake comes in a cake tin as I do struggle with what to do with leftover cake and end up having to wrap it in foil. With the Letterbox Cake it is simple to store and keeps it fresh, plus you can reuse the tin afterwards.

When I opened the cake tin I was greeted with a lovely cake, I opted for a cake with a monkey on from the children to Mr K. Amelie always makes Mr K a Valentine’s card and I thought the cake was the perfect gift to accompany the card from the kiddies,  after all they love him just as much as I do.

The cake was a Red Velvet Sponge Cake and was just devine. The sponge was light and fluffy with delicious buttercream added to it. The icing was of excellent quality and not sickly like some cakes I’ve tasted. It says it serves between 3 – 4 people but we have had at least 8 servings out of it, so the whole family can share the experience.

I was a little baffled as to how I would get the cake out of the tin without crumbling it, but it was super easy and came with a good set of instructions.

It was time for a taste test and who better to test it than a hungry 2 year old. It was safe to say the cake passed with flying colours, Mr K was also very impressed with the size of the cake and thought it was a really nice personal touch.

As you can see by the photos above the quality and attention to detail is first class. I think bakerdays have come up with a fantastic idea with the Letterbox Cake as I know myself I just don’t have the time to get to the shops sometimes being a busy mum of two. So the idea that I can sit at home in my pjs and order a personalised gift, knowing that I won’t miss that important occasion makes life so much easier.

Ordering online is really easy, you just choose your design, size and flavour of cake, personalise it with your own photo and a message and leave the baking to bakerdays.
