If you are looking for the ultimate hair-raising experience this Halloween half term, look no further than Crealy. This year Crealy have gone above and beyond for their annual Spook-Fest and Fireworks Extravaganza.
We were very kindly gifted our tickets for Spook-Fest and it did not disappoint. We attended during the last weekend of Spook-Fest and from the get-go the whole theme park had been transformed, the atmosphere was buzzing and there was an air of ghoulish excitement.
We decided to check out the tricks & treats so started with the 3D Jesters Fun Maze. It really was aimed at younger children, with bright colours, 3D glasses and lots of fun illustrations dotted around the maze. Next was Creaky Hotel, we had no idea what to expect so joined the queue and waited for the delights inside.
Queuing times were very good considering it was the only bright dry day of the weekend, we were kept entertained whilst queuing by a very strange character. He was picking up litter, rotten food and drinks then eating them. The children thought this was absolutely hilarious and certainly geared them up. Creaky Hotel was brilliant – my favourite attraction by far – it was spine-chilling, jumpy and thoroughly captivating, Amelie and Charlie were screaming but laughing at the same time.
Inside we were guided through different rooms, one with a frightening lady who was trying to contact her deceased husband, another with a crazy chef chopping up bits and bobs, singing creepy pumpkins and scary ladies popping out of the walls.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to visit the Witches in the Wilderness as they closed the attraction early but the children were given a huge lolly as a trick-or-treat gift which I thought was really good. So we went in search of the Scarecrow Scare Maze, this particular attraction was aimed at children over the age of 8 but both Amelie (7) and Charlie (5) went through with no problems.
When we were in the queue there were two really terrifying scarecrows, they even freaked me out I didn’t like them, haha. You walk through a series of areas with flashing strobe lights, loud noises and at the end is a fantastic twirling light tunnel. I thought it was amazing and would have gone through the maze again.
The Scare Bear Show was really entertaining and great for the whole family, I liked that it was outdoors with a big enough seating area for everyone. The Blossom and Buddy were as enthusiastic as ever and really captivated the audience, getting us all in the Halloween spirit.
Our aim was to visit the huge inflated tent housing tons of free pumpkins to carve, this would have been a great activity for the kiddies to do but we just couldn’t fit it into our day. Perhaps we should have visited that first, it didn’t matter though as we had so much fun anyway.
The day went so quickly it was just impossible to fit everything in but we did stay for the Fireworks Extravaganza and I have to say it was the BEST fireworks display I’ve ever been to. Crealy really did have the WOW factor, the fireworks were absolutely amazing as was the atmosphere. We really did have a fantastic day out and I would love to go again – what an awesome way to kick off half term!
Spook-Fest has been extended this half term until 31st October so if you haven’t visited I would certainly recommend a trip to really get you in the Halloween mood.
