Today is the grand opening of two brand new rides at Peppa Pig World, Paultons Park. We were lucky enough to be invited for a sneak preview last weekend of The Queen’s Flying Coach Ride and Grampy Rabbit’s Sailing Club and boy what a day it was!!
If you’ve never heard of Peppa Pig World, it is located within a huge theme park called Paultons Park based in Southampton. The park offers 65 acres of family fun and Peppa Pig World was created in 2011, visitors to the park range from all over the globe. We have been to Peppa Pig World twice before, once during the spring and at Christmas, both children absolutely love this place it is a world of entertainment that you are never bored of.
We were up bright and early to travel to the big press event, Amelie and Charlie had no idea where we were going until I gave them an exciting Royal Invitation to preview the new rides. Upon arriving we were handed our press pack, lanyards and given a brief explanation on what the day would entail. We headed straight for the VIP area and were given a huge goody bag of Peppa merchandise which I thought was a really nice treat especially for the little ones, mums and dads were treated to cupcakes and hot drinks on tap at the refreshments corner.
As you walk into the new area you are greeted with the all familiar Peppa Pig theme tune, bright colours and excellent attention to detail. There was a real buzz throughout the event everyone was in good spirits. Our first stop, which is the first ride you come to is Grampy Rabbit’s Sailing Club which is a family ride to accommodate up to 4 people. I love rides where we can all jump on and no one is left out as you get to experience the fun and laughter all together, I really watch the children’s faces and love seeing their excitement. You hop on board a boat and cruise along the bright blue lazy river which is based around the Queen’s Castle. Along the way you come across Pirate Island where all your favourite characters are enjoying a picnic and above, you get a fantastic view of The Queen’s Flying Coach Ride.
After our cruise along the water route we were greeted with Peppa herself, she was just as giggly and funny as she always is, interacting with the children. To my surprise a number of new characters have been introduced to the park, Mr Bull, Gerald Giraffe, Grampy Rabbit, all of Peppa’s friends on Pirate Island and the most important character – The Queen herself.
The Queen’s Castle is a whopping 10 metres high and is a fantastic view point to look out over the whole of Peppa Pig World. There is also the Queen’s Kitchen situated within the castle which is really handy for a lunch pit stop. We headed up to The Queen’s Flying Coach Ride which is a monorail with cute royal carriages to take you around the new area, it really is a wonderful view from the top especially on a bright sunny day.
I was really impressed with the expansion of Peppa Pig World as it is moving with the times. We all know new episodes have been created so to add new rides and characters it gets the children excited and happy to visit their favourite friends.
