Sealife Weymouth #Ascarium

Sealife Weymouth has been on our “To Visit” list for ages. We’ve holidayed in Dorset each October half term ever since Amelie was a toddler. There’s just something about the Dorset coastline that really appeals and I just love the area during Autumn.

It just so happened that we were in Weymouth on Halloween this year. Sealife Weymouth very kindly invited us to experience a spooky #Ascarium Halloween trail. We have been to a few Aquariums in our time, the biggest being Plymouth. But Sealife Weymouth is so much more than just tanks of fishes. It has everything to keep the children entertained no matter what the unpredictable weather is up to.

Obviously when we visited it was chucking it down with rain. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as I had heard very good reviews and I have to say, it was amazing.

There were lots of outdoor areas decked out all Halloweeny, the children had to complete a little sheet finding letters to solve the Witchy spell. Our first port of call was the Rockpool area which was located outside. As we were (still are) in the midst of Coronavirus Mr K and I were a little apprehensive as to what it would be like. But, Sealife Weymouth is so spaced out and extra precautions were in place we felt completely at ease. There were lots and lots of handwashing and sanitising facilities and everyone kept to a sensible distance.

There’s so much going on at Sealife Weymouth, here is a snippet of our day. If you fancy a little chuckle, check out my Instagram. I let Amelie and Charlie take over my stories on the day, they did a mini vlog of our adventure, it is saved to highlights. They did such an amazing job, I had lots of lovely comments!

As family days out go, this was one of our favourites in a long time. The atmosphere was brilliant, the children especially loved the Witch that did the rounds, she was entertaining and bonded well with the kiddies. I think our favourite animals were the Otters, they were in an outdoor area and seemed to love the human interaction. You could say they were showing off for us and putting on a show, Charlie wanted to take one home! We did also love the Seals, they were just chilling out swimming around and also seemed to love the attention from us. The best bit was the underwater tunnel you could walk through. Above your head swam sharks, a huge turtle, stingray and lots of other beautiful sealife, it was quite an experience. I made sure I took lots of photos to remember our time.

I would love to return during the warmer months as outside there was a huge splash park area and pool for the children to race through. I can imagine how much fun it would be for them in the heat of the summer sun whilst the parents are taking 5 with an iced coffee. I was really impressed with it all to be honest and the staff were fab.

If you are looking for a Christmas gift for your littles or family members I would definitely recommend a trip to Sealife Weymouth – after lockdown ends that is!

A fab day out for all the family to enjoy!

** I would just like to say a big thank you to Sealife Weymouth for our tickets, we had a brilliant time**
