Christmas 2017, Review

My Sensory Crate Subscription Box

Buying presents at Christmas is an overwhelming experience for anyone, did you pick the right toy, will they like it, did you buy enough presents? But, buying presents for an autistic child or a child who has a sensory processing disorder is another experience, my brother and nephew are both autistic and I find shopping for them so difficult as I want to get them something special and thoughtful as well as fun for them. I also worry that they will be overwhelmed with too many gifts at once and worry I may pick up the wrong thing so I usually end up giving them money for Christmas or their birthdays. But I feel sad that I haven’t been able to pick something suitable for them.

I was so excited to be contacted by My Sensory Crate Subscription Box. This wonderful company provide a monthly subscription service for children with sensory needs, you can order a box full of fun and exciting sensory toys/activities for just £24.99 per month. I was lucky enough to be sent the November My Sensory Crate to review and couldn’t be happier, I showed it to my sister and she thought it was amazing.

Before I get into what was in the box I just want to mention that there will be a Christmas themed box for December and you can order this box as a one off – no subscription required – which would make a perfect present (just tick the ‘this is a gift’ box at the checkout). What’s great about this company is they donate 10% of the profit of each box to The National Autistic Society.

NOVEMBER BOX

When you open the box – which is personalised with the child’s name – you are met with a crazy paper shred which is perfect for pulling out and playing with it is like a lucky dip for children. The goodies that were included in this particular box were:-

Wooden Coloured Blocks – These blocks are bound together by elastic which is a simple but effective toy for fine motor skills.

Spinning Top – This spinning top lights up as it spins, I know my nephew would love this he will be looking at the colours as it spins.

Slime Monster – This looks so much fun as you squeeze the slime out of the monster’s mouth, another great activity for fine motor skills.

Double Rattan Shaker – Children will love to shake this and listen to the sounds it makes.

Crackle Baff – What better way to make bath time fun then adding some sensory play to the mix. The water will be crackling and popping around children which will be very exciting for them.

No Worries Moh Doh – This is a powerful aromatherapy play to assist children in calming stresses and anxiety. I personally love this and think it is a great addition.

My Sensory Crate subscription box is an ideal gift for any occasion I have never come across anything like it and I will certainly be recommending it. It gives you the opportunity to try out new and exciting sensory products that you might have been thinking about, it takes the stress away from searching for the perfect gift and also gives the child something to look forward to each month.
