    Appreciating Our Time Again

The summer holidays are over and my children are back to school today. I was a mixed bag of emotions but managed to hold it together. I mentioned in a previous post that last year the summer holidays were utterly wonderful and that’s not a lie, yes it came with the usual stresses but I really enjoyed my time with the children. This summer has been extremely challenging and I’ve not really enjoyed every second of it, that is quite hard to admit out loud as I feel like others will judge. Both children are obviously a year older and with that comes different phases for them. Week one of…

    Back To School Favourites

It is nearly that time of year again – back to school. When Amelie first started school I went into panic mode and bought everything. However, as the years have gone on and I am more of a pro at being a school run mum I have learnt to shop savvy and not be so proud (fussy). This isn’t a school essentials list as each school is different, as are the year groups and what is required. So I am just sharing some favourites that I’ve bought along the way which may help when you are putting together your back to school list. SUPERMARKETS / SHOPS FOR UNIFORM One thing…

    Life Lately

Hi guys, how is everyone? Are you all ready for the big return to school next week? I’m nearly there with the uniforms etc, I just need to get the children’s school shoes. I tried to get them last week in Exeter, however I was met with a ticket from what looked like a deli counter ticket machine and told to wait in a room full to the brim of stressed out parents. I took one look and bolted, only to be told by the ever so helpful sales assistant that I could in fact ‘book an appointment’ – errrrmmmm, no thanks! Mr K has been on annual leave for most…

    Back To School Evening Routine

Normality and routine has been restored and we are back to our evening routine (sort of). It does take a couple of weeks to settle back in properly but I’m so pleased we have structure again. 3.15pm – School pick up. 4.00pm – 4.30pm – Dinner time, this may seem early to most but my children are hangry little monsters by this time and I’m not a fan of too many after school snacks as they will not eat their dinner. 4.30pm – 5.15pm – Free play, we use this time to pull all the toys out and have a mad time. I will join the children in playing games or…

    Back To School Essentials

After flapping like a mad woman last September wondering whether I had the correct uniform for Amelie starting Reception, this year I’ve left everything until the last minute (Sunday 3rd Sept to be exact) and managed to pick up the essentials we needed. Here is a list of everything I’ve bought for year 1. Name Labels – If I can suggest one essential to buy before starting school it is name labels. I have labelled everything including both of Amelie’s school shoes and sandwich box. I used these labels last year and re-purchased them again this year as they are so durable, they have been through the wash, tumble dryer…

    So Ready…

It feels like the children have been home for years but at the same time I cannot believe how quickly the summer holidays have whizzed by. We have crammed a lot into the last 6 weeks, August hasn’t been the best month weather wise but we made the most of it with days out, lazy mornings, late nights, being busy in the garden, visiting the library and playing in the rain. But, the time has come to start a proper bedtime routine again, think about buying uniform (I still need to do this, oops!) and getting back into some sort of routine. Everyone is ready to return to normality, my…
