Birthday Weekend – Plymouth Adventures
We spent the weekend in Plymouth celebrating Amelie’s and my birthday early. Instead of throwing a big party like we did last year we decided to book a hotel and spend some time as a family – it was brilliant! We chose the Jurys Inn, Plymouth as it was close to the shopping centre and all other amenities. My two love a road trip (not the journey, they moan the whole way) to a new town and were very excited at the thought of staying in a hotel. We were not disappointed upon arrival, the lady who checked us in was a star she gave us complimentary drinks and breakfast…

Weekend Adventures – Beach, Church & Somerset
The children broke up for the Christmas holidays on Friday as did Mr K, I have them all home for 2 weeks – magic! Last week saw a sickness bug, croup, 2 coughs, 2 colds, an infection, antibiotics and 2 bottles of calpol. I was more than ready for the weekend. Saturday Our first stop was the best pasty shop in the world – Moore’s Pasties, Exmouth – we picked up 2 Christmas pasties and 2 sausages rolls. We nearly went home with a hamster as we nipped into the pet shop, they had the cutest little hamster and he was climbing along his cage just willing us to take…

Pumpkin Picking – Days Out In Devon
Ever since the children were born I have wanted to visit an authentic pumpkin patch to pick our own pumpkins and take cheesy photos. I’ve searched high and low to find one in Devon but have never been successful… until now. I first heard about Lifton Farm Shop when I read a post by a fellow Devon blogger, Gina over at Gypsy Soul. When I read all about Pumpkin Fest I couldn’t wait to plan our visit, I did have to wait nearly a year though, ha ha. We decided to visit Lifton Farm Shop last weekend, at the start of Pumpkin Fest. When we arrived everyone was really excited…

Weekend Adventures
It has been a long old week full of illness running into the weekend, Sunday is here and I’m struggling the most. But, we had to get out of the house as we were climbing the walls. Saturday We had every intention of going to Exmouth carnival but we were all feeling under the weather still. The children were bored so we decided to take a trip to Bicton Park for the last hour and a half of the day and really enjoyed it. It was lovely and quiet, the children were able to run riot around soft play and let off steam. I felt so sick I had to…

Halloween Activities In Devon
I realise it is only September but I love Halloween, even more so now I have children. However I’m always stuck for ideas on places to visit and activities to do with the children. My ideal Halloween would be picking our own pumpkins at a cute farm, apple bobbing, decorating the whole house inside and out and going crazy with Halloween treats – I really wished I lived in America as they go bananas over Halloween! I’m going to try and cram in as many festive activities as possible this year and I have complied a small list of spooky attractions to visit during October in Devon. World of Country Life, Exmouth – 23rd to…

Weekend Adventures – Exeter Museum & Exmouth
We survived the first week back to school, I had forgotten how tired the children would be after a long day at school. We didn’t have any specific plans for the weekend as the week had been so busy. SATURDAY We decided to take the children to Exeter for an explore around the Royal Albert Memorial Museum as the weather was threatening to rain, we parked and within 2 minutes of walking to the museum the heavens opened, from then it rained on an off all day. We love having a mooch around the museum, now the children are that little bit older they really take an interest in the…

Autumn in August?
I know everyone is moaning about the weather but seriously is it autumn in August? It doesn’t feel right donning my Chelsea boots, check shirt and jacket, I love this attire but not during summer. We had plans to visit Haldon Forest today and go to the Orange Elephant for ice creams and a stroll through the meadow but we had to abandon these grand plans due to the rain. We opted to go to Sidmouth for some lunch, we went to the Anchor Inn which was cosy and welcoming the staff were excellent and so was the food. After lunch we popped into the sweet shop where the children…

Summer Holidays – Our Week
I can’t believe how quickly the first week of the summer holidays has gone. We have not stopped this week, the weather has been up and down but we have made the most of it. Monday We started our week saying a sad farewell to a very special family member. We didn’t take the children, Amelie went to summer club at school as she had been begging me to book her in. Charlie spent the day with my mum, sister, brother and nephew, I hear they had a great day together. Tuesday I took advantage of the sunshine and got the children dressed and fed early so we could head…

Weekend Adventures – Bystock Pools, Budleigh Salterton
We had a slow paced morning on Saturday we decided to take the children for a wonder in the woods at Bystock Pools, Budleigh Salterton. I have heard so many local people talking about the pools but have never been myself. I thought they would be hard to locate but as it turns out they are right on the road side as you head towards the Reservoir. As a treat, on our way to Bystock Pools we stopped off at Moore’s Pasties for a couple of sausage rolls and scrumptious pasties – our favourite, they do the best in town! When we arrived we were all bowled over by how stunning and peaceful…

Paulos Circus – Topsham, Exeter
We love visiting Paulos Circus and have been many times before, it is a traditional family fun show that just gets better each time you visit. I was extremely excited to be invited to the opening night of the all new #HereTodayTour at Darts Farm, Topsham. As we have seen the show before I was expecting the same or similar set up, however, as this is a brand new show for 2017 there were lots of new faces, an amazing magic act that left us all whispering “how did they do that?”, a plate-spinning clown, the ring of death, beautiful ladies twirling high up through the bigtop and the children’s favourite clown – Mr N.…
