Summer Holiday Activities For Children – Ice Excavations!
I thought I would share a series of activities that the children get up to over the summer holidays, things that I have been wanting to try for ages and also to keep them busy. This week’s activity is… Ice Excavations Really simple and cheap activity for children to do but keeps them entertained and their busy minds ticking over. You will need some small toys that you don’t mind getting wet and frozen, a strong large zip lock bag, some water and enough space in your freezer. I chose a Frozen theme for Amelie’s bag and a dinosaur/cars/bugs theme for Charlie’s bag. I placed the toys into two separate bags…

Weekend Adventures – Bystock Pools, Budleigh Salterton
We had a slow paced morning on Saturday we decided to take the children for a wonder in the woods at Bystock Pools, Budleigh Salterton. I have heard so many local people talking about the pools but have never been myself. I thought they would be hard to locate but as it turns out they are right on the road side as you head towards the Reservoir. As a treat, on our way to Bystock Pools we stopped off at Moore’s Pasties for a couple of sausage rolls and scrumptious pasties – our favourite, they do the best in town! When we arrived we were all bowled over by how stunning and peaceful…

Weekend Adventures – Exmouth Beach & Exeter Quay
What a cracking weekend it has been here in Devon, the sun has been shining on us and I’m happy to report that Amelie is well on the road to recovering from her illness last week. Saturday As it was such a nice day yesterday we took an impromptu trip to Exmouth beach, which is about a 5 minute drive from our house. The children were very excited at the thought of a ride on the merry-go-round which has been on Exmouth seafront for decades I can remember my mum taking my sister and me on it when we were little. After that the kiddies had an ice cream with…

Quality Time – Budleigh Beach, Devon
It has been scorching in Exmouth and whilst it was far too hot to be outside yesterday, today was a little cooler. I planned to take Charlie out for the morning to Budleigh beach as we had not been there since the winter. I really wanted to spend some quality time with him away from my phone, away from the TV and away from mundane chores. Even though Charlie is home with me most of the time we don’t spend that much quality time together as I’m always busy with school runs, reading afternoons, food shopping, housework or toddler groups and Charlie just kind of tags along. Your second child…

Butlins, Minehead – Just For Tots Week
We go on a Sun £9.50 holiday every year, some years we have two holidays and others just the once during Autumn. We decided to visit Butlins in Minehead last year for Charlie’s second birthday as we had exhausted all of the “good” Havens in Weymouth and Cornwall and fancied something different. We were very lucky to get the Just for Tots week during April 2016. The Just for Tots week, is as you would expect a week dedicated to the little ones in your family. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I knew it would be entertaining as there is so much to do in and around Butlins.…

Days Out In Devon – World Of Country Life, Exmouth
World of Country Life is an all round family fun day out for all ages and stages. I live about a 5 minute drive from the attraction which is situated right next door to a Haven – Devon Cliffs – so is perfect for holiday makers who are visiting Exmouth. Both of my children love going to World of Country Life and we have bought an annual pass which runs out in July, I will certainly be renewing it as it is a perfect place to visit if the children need to burn off some energy. There are 3 soft play areas to choose from, one for under 12s, one…

Halloween Crafts & Sleepy Bears
As we had such a busy half term I thought it would be nice for the children (and me) to have a slow paced day. I stocked up on a few new paints, brushes, paper plates and googly eyes etc all ready for a Halloween crafty afternoon. My two absolutely love arts and crafts, so I covered the table with newspaper and stuck it down with sellotape. I was a bit nervous about the cream carpet getting splattered with bright orange or black paint but, hey ho, it can be scrubbed! Luckily not a drop was spilt on the floor, Charlie did paint the wall a few times a lovely black/purple/green…
