What I Ate Today #coeliac #glutenfree
I love producing what I ate today posts. I cannot tell you how many times I have gone back to these posts for meal ideas and just to see what I was scoffing. As I mentioned in previous posts, this is not real time, this post was from June when I was taking a break from blogging. Here is what I ate on Monday 15th June 2020. Breakfast – 7.00am Nothing unusual here – a bowl of scrumptious gluten free porridge, mixed up with my favourite probiotic Biomel. I recently tried a new peanut butter and absolutely love it. The Meridian Smooth Peanut Butter is delicious, it is a little…

Father’s Day: Lockdown Gift Ideas
Father’s Day – a tricky one for me and I feel a little bit of a fraud writing a post suggesting gifts for Dads. Why? Well, I didn’t have a Dad growing up, it was my Sister, my Mum and me. So I really do not know what having that Father figure in your life is all about. What I will say is, I had the BEST Mum in the world to have brought my sister and me up as a single parent. She was both Mum and Dad, I do send her a text every year saying “Happy Father’s Day!”. There was only one thing I wanted when I…

Gluten Free Baked Turkey Chilli Gnocchi
I love coming up with recipes that I kind of just throw in the pan and hope for the best, they usually turn out to be pretty delicious. So a few weekends ago I decided to make a chilli but with a twist. INGREDIENTS 500g Turkey Mince 250g Gluten Free Gnocchi 2 tbsp Tomato Puree 1 Tin of Kidney Beans Free From Grated Cheese 1 Tin of Passata 4 tbsp Cumin 4 tbsp Paprika Salt Coconut Oil Free From Tortilla Chips METHOD Heat the oven to 200 degrees (mine is a fan oven) in preparation for baking. Start by putting 1 teaspoon of coconut oil into a pan to heat…

What I Ate Today: Gluten Free, Coeliac Lifestyle
Good morning!! I hope you are all having a good week so far despite the current situation surrounding us at the minute. These lighter mornings are perking me up, I just wish we had a little more of that gorgeous sunshine. I don’t like wishing time/life away but I really am ready for Spring/Summer now, yes I love Autumn but I’m not a fan of life after Christmas. The magic and cosy-ness disappears and it is just wet/windy and grim. I cannot wait to get cracking on sorting the gardens out. I have a Spring To-Do List and top of the list is painting the outside wall, weeding, sorting and…

What I Ate Today – Coeliac Gluten Free
What I Ate Today BREAKFAST No matter how hard I try I cannot steer myself away from a good hearty bowl of porridge. I love Asda Free From Porridge Oats (40g) in a bowl with a dark chocolate Biomel and a dollop of peanut butter. This genuinely fills me up for a good 4 hours. MID MORNING SNACK Another favourite as you will know, a salted caramel Nakd Bar. Absolutely delicious and a perfect snack to keep me going. LUNCH Two things I can no longer stomach at the moment but on this particular day I made eggs, turkey bacon, cheese and cherry tomatoes. Eggs really upset my tummy if…

Gluten & Milk Free Chocolate Twists
It’s no secret we love baking in our house, especially at the weekend when we are stuck for an activity to do. Unfortunately this weekend Charlie was struck down with a sickness bug so we were housebound. Amelie and myself decided to see what ingredients we had in the cupboard and put our creative chef hats on. We came up with Chocolate Twists, but with a difference – a gluten and milk free version. INGREDIENTS & EQUIPMENT * Genuis Puff Pastry (Gluten, Wheat & Milk Free) * Nature’s Store Hazelnut & Cocoa Spread * Gluten Free Flour * Baking Tray * Rolling Pin * Greaseproof Paper METHOD Before getting stuck…

Zizzi Italian Restaurant – Gluten Free Menu
Continuing my search for a good gluten/dairy free menu we recently had a lunch date as a family in Zizzi. Zizzi is an Italian restaurant with over 160 branches in the UK and Ireland. They serve an extensive range of authentic pizzas, pasta, meat skewers and delicious desserts. I have visited Zizzi many times and always opted for the calzone (literally the BEST) but now I have dietary needs this is completely off limits for me and I am devastated about this. But not to be discouraged I still went into the restaurant with an open mind. The branch we stopped off at was in Taunton, it is such a…

Brazier Coffee Roasters – Tonedale, Somerset
One of the brilliant things about blogging is its platform. You can have an idea, create something and put it out there for the world to see. I quite often refer to blog posts for ideas on where to visit, places to eat and so forth. I thought it would be useful (for me just as much) to start documenting the little places we visit at the weekends, whether it be a new restaurant, pub, fast food eatery or a coffee shop (my favourite) and jot down my thoughts on them. I think this will be helpful as now I really have to be careful about what I eat (no…
