My Mummy is a Scientist – Book Review

“My mummy is a Scientist; curious, keen and smart. Her job is so exciting, I don’t know where to start.” My Mummy is a Scientist is a wonderful book for children age 3 – 7 years old. This book is one of three books in a series by Butterfly Books, a brother sister team who write books for children aiming to transform the way in which they perceive various careers.   I particularly like these stories as they leave you feeling empowered, like you can accomplish any dream you have. I think it is important for little children to know that mummy can do any job she wants to whether it…

    Compliments From My Kids…

My children are lovely but some of the things they say to me are unintentionally horrible. Instead of getting upset I laugh hysterically as the words coming out of their tiny mouths are brilliant.  These are just a few of the lovely compliments my kiddies have said to me. When I’m going for a wee in the pub toilet… Amelie: “Mummy, your knickers look like old lady skin”   When I’m wearing my new Converse for the first time and looking in the mirror… Me: “Oh I’m dressed like a teenager today, I look about 15” Amelie: “No, you don’t look 15, you look 55”   Bikini shopping with Charlie… Charlie:…

Quality Time – Budleigh Beach, Devon

It has been scorching in Exmouth and whilst it was far too hot to be outside yesterday, today was a little cooler. I planned to take Charlie out for the morning to Budleigh beach as we had not been there since the winter. I really wanted to spend some quality time with him away from my phone, away from the TV and away from mundane chores. Even though Charlie is home with me most of the time we don’t spend that much quality time together as I’m always busy with school runs, reading afternoons, food shopping, housework or toddler groups and Charlie just kind of tags along. Your second child…

    Hand Luggage Snacks for Children

I’ve not had to pack a hand luggage bag in 4 years so had to check the restrictions with the airline we are flying with. Anyone with children will know they eat ALL THE TIME! Even when they aren’t particularly hungry they seem to snack day and night, my children are little monkeys when it comes to snacking, so I’m being prepared for every situation possible. The snacks I’ve packed are not the healthiest so please don’t judge me, I’m preparing for negotiation, bribery and just five minutes peace. When they eat, they are occupied which is handy when flying. Here we have some dried snacks for Mr K and myself…

    20 Facts About Me

I’m 5ft and a size 6-8, all the ladies in my family are petite. I have naturally curly hair that I straighten every day using the best GHDs. I only go au natural on holiday where no one can see me. I use hairspray to keep my eyebrows in place, a friend of mine introduced me to this method when we were about 17. She used to use an old toothbrush (sorry Chlo!), I’ve done this ever since although I don’t use a toothbrush. I used to hate coffee but since having children I have about 3 cups a day. I’m a nervous driver and hate driving. I haven’t…

    What Mummy Eats

So here is another ‘What Mummy Eats’, I received some really positive feedback from the last one which was great. Breakfast I had an almond croissant and strawberries for brekkie on this particular day, I wouldn’t normally have this but enjoyed it as a treat. I also had a coffee and some water. Almond croissants are my fave, I prefer them over the chocolate ones – yummy. Snack We had a playdate after breakfast and when we got home we all had a chocolate crispy cake that the children had made the day before, they went a tad overkill with the edible glitter. I had another coffee, ah that sounds…

    Big School

We have just returned from our second parents evening at Amelie’s school. The first one we had was literally a few weeks into her first year in Reception and wasn’t really that useful. This one however was totally amazing, I can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that I have a 5 year old child who can read, write in sentences, add up, subtract, count in 2s and knows all of the 3D shapes. How on earth did that happen in the space of 6 months? I really do not give Amelie enough credit for the amazing work she has achieved during her school year, just looking through her…

    The Good In Motherhood

We all know being a mum is a tough job and it can really get you down at some points, you doubt yourself constantly whether you are doing a good job, the little monkeys wear you out and run you into the ground and you are exhausted beyond belief. I’m guilty of focussing on the negatives quite a lot and moaning about how the children have been naughty etc, but there are so many positives about motherhood and I’m going to try and put my energy into seeing the good. So here are my favourite things about being a mum and how motherhood has changed me.   The first person my children…
