    Monster Mum

    September 12, 2019 /

Monster mum arrives once a month. She suddenly sneaks up on me and the entire family take cover (I don’t blame them). The daily goings on of monster mum are different from one day to the next, she starts by feeling a little prickly, a bit annoyed and not quite right. By day 3 she’s in full on rage/shouty mum mode and nothing can make her happy – even other people breathing irritates the crap out of her, making her want to run away and hide in a cave. There are various symptoms of Monster Mum:- Fatigue Crying for no reason Feeling extremely sad and low for no reason Monster…

    Mum Guilt & Pushing Boundaries

    November 26, 2018 /

I’ve woken up with the worst mum guilt today. Actually it started yesterday, I hate to say it but I was so glad when it was bedtime for my two. They are both at an age where Amelie has the attitude of a teenager and Charlie is in the “silly stage” of growing up. Both were so intense I thought my head was going to explode. I did have a mega headache yesterday which was amplified by their high pitch screams. They seem even more demanding just lately literally barking orders at me and getting so stroppy when I refuse to pander to their every whim. I know it is…

    Raising Boys

    November 16, 2018 /

Raising boys, oh gosh, where do I start?? From the beginning I guess. When we went for our 20 week scan with Charlie we wanted to find out what we were having as we had a super surprise last time. Unfortunately Charlie wasn’t playing ball, he crossed his legs and turned the other way despite the sonographers efforts he didn’t want to be identified. When I had my c-section I heard this tiny little cry from inside me – yes, Charlie got his shoulders stuck inside me so he cried whilst being removed from his cosy home. The surgeon announced we indeed had a boy I was utterly gobsmacked, our…

    Mummy, But A New Me

    March 7, 2018 /

They say motherhood changes you and I absolutely agree. Since becoming a mum I have become a better version of me and I’m starting to enter a new stage of parenthood. During the early years I had no idea what the heck I was doing, I would read books, listen to friends advice and copy other mums. But nothing can prepare you for raising your own child, I was putting all these silly things into place because I thought I had to, I thought by this stage I should be doing this and my baby should be doing that, ugh! Looking back I really wish I just listened to my…

    Raw, Honest Motherhood

    November 27, 2017 /

I’m sat on the bed with my poorly little boy who is full of a cold and chesty cough (still), the rain is pouring down and my clothes are soaked through. Monday again, how quick do the weekends go? I prefer the run up to Christmas (October, November, December) much more than the actual day, so I love cosy weekends spent as a family or with friends. There aren’t many weekends left to savour the magic before it all comes to an end for another year. Our Sunday started well we were all in good spirits so we headed to Aldi for a food shop, the children were well behaved…

The Supermum Myth – Book Review

    September 29, 2017 /

The Supermum Myth is a book that every mother should read whether you suffer from anxiety, guilt, feelings of comparison or negative thoughts. It is written by Anya Hayes and Dr Rachel Andrew and published by Crimson Publishing – an independent publisher based in Bath. The book is available from Amazon, Kindle and there is also a paperback version. I will certainly be passing this book onto my mum friends as I think it rings true with a lot of feelings us mums have during our journey through motherhood, not just raising children but also the journey we take as people. I personally absolutely loved reading this book as I suffer from…

How I Potty Trained My 2 Year Old

    January 5, 2017 /

This is our potty training story, I’m no expert and only have my experience of potty training my daughter to go on. If you are thinking about potty training a 2 year old and are after a real life story then you may find this helpful. Day One – 28th December 2016 Today I woke up and decided it would be a good time to crack on with potty training Charlie. We had talked about wearing big boy pants a few days before and when I mentioned it to him that morning he was super keen. Previously (about 2 months prior) he wanted to wear pants but hadn’t really grasped the…

Jumping On The Mummy Blog Bandwagon!

    October 12, 2016 /

Where do I begin, I’ve wanted to start a parenting “mummy” blog for nearly 2 years. I first came across parenting blogs when I had my first child in 2012. I really wish I found these sources of honest information whilst I was pregnant as I cannot count how many times I have gone to these posts for advice, reassurance and general motherhood tips. There are so many bloggers and vloggers (yes, I love youtube mummies/families as well) that I follow on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I find I can really relate to their daily lives and struggles of being a parent and find it a comfort that there are…
