A Sunday Well Spent… In Lockdown
A Sunday well spent brings a week of content – well, lets hope so because we are back to home schooling! How was your half term? Our week went by so quickly, I spent most of it poorly. I did have a Covid test and thankfully it was negative, still worrying though. I know I speak for most of us when I say life is pretty suffocating right now. In all the time, raining outside, zero motivation to do anything remotely productive and we just want normal life to resume. We HAD to get out of the house on Sunday, the kids were like caged animals jumping on my sofas,…

Weekend Adventures: Minehead, Ice Creams, Vivary Park & Family Time
Back with a Weekend Adventures post, something I have not published in such a long time. This post was actually from back in June when we were still social distancing and establishments were not fully open. I thought it would be fun to document and look back on. Saturday 13th June It was a slow start to the weekend which is just what we all needed. It was Charlie’s first week back to school, Amelie was still home learning. Charlie had a brilliant week, there was only 7 children in his class so he had lots of fun. As the weather was a little on the dull side I thought…

Sheppy’s House of Cider, Somerset
Sheppy’s House of Cider based in the beautiful countryside of Somerset is a favourite establishment of ours. You may think judging by the name, that it is not suitable for families with it being a cider house but there is so much more to explore. Sheppy’s is Somerset’s oldest cidermakers, I have sampled a fair few of their ciders, I do love a crisp dry cider on a hot summer’s day. Located within Sheppy’s is an authentic farm shop offering a range of excellent treats, local foods, a butchery, restaurant, function room with stunning views, Apple Bay Bar and a rustic café where they serve delicious cakes and the best…

Brazier Coffee Roasters – Tonedale, Somerset
One of the brilliant things about blogging is its platform. You can have an idea, create something and put it out there for the world to see. I quite often refer to blog posts for ideas on where to visit, places to eat and so forth. I thought it would be useful (for me just as much) to start documenting the little places we visit at the weekends, whether it be a new restaurant, pub, fast food eatery or a coffee shop (my favourite) and jot down my thoughts on them. I think this will be helpful as now I really have to be careful about what I eat (no…

Open Farm Day 2019 – Huntstile Organic Farm, Somerset
This was our first time attending an Open Farm Sunday. I only found out about the event last year and was desperate to go. If you are unfamiliar with what this is, Farms across the country open their gates to the public for one day only to take you on a tour of their farm. You experience the full farm life package from meeting the animals, taking a ride on a tractor or trailer, gaining information on how farms operate and lots of other exciting activities. We moved to Somerset during September last year and with it being in the country we are surrounded by lots of authentic farms. I…

Weekend Adventures – Taunton, Pumpkin Spice Lattes & Orchards
Good morning, I hope everyone is well and had a great weekend. Monday morning and I’m really not feeling life today, how bad is that? I’ve no idea why I woke up in such a grumpy mood (hormones), I’m tired and have a horrible worried feeling in my tummy – classic anxiety. After such a lovely weekend I should be feeling happy but I’m just going to roll with this glum mood and hope it passes quickly. Saturday It was a rainy old day in Somerset on Saturday, but we didn’t let that stop us from nipping into Taunton for a coffee at Coffee #1 (my current new favourite coffee…

The children broke up for the Christmas holidays on Friday as did Mr K, I have them all home for 2 weeks – magic! Last week saw a sickness bug, croup, 2 coughs, 2 colds, an infection, antibiotics and 2 bottles of calpol. I was more than ready for the weekend. Saturday Our first stop was the best pasty shop in the world – Moore’s Pasties, Exmouth – we picked up 2 Christmas pasties and 2 sausages rolls. We nearly went home with a hamster as we nipped into the pet shop, they had the cutest little hamster and he was climbing along his cage just willing us to take…
