My ideal getaway is escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life, switching off and spending time together as a family. I’m talking real quality family time not peering over your phone at the kiddies whilst they play.
Earlier this year we were extremely fortunate to have been invited to the Spirit Riding Free Playmobil press launch. This was being held at Loose Reins in Dorset.
Set in the stunning Dorset countryside, Loose Reins is authentic ranch living at its best. Upon arriving you are met with a breathtaking views of greenery, horses, chickens, goats and sheep. Nestled within the trees are luxury cabins and lodges. When we arrived we were met by the wonderful staff who checked us in, helped us offload our baggage and then gave us a ride in the buggy to our absolutely wonderful luxury canvas lodge.
We really did not know what to expect before we arrived at Loose Reins as we had only been glamping once. We were met with what looked like something from an American Western film. The luxury canvas lodge had a huge raised decked area complete with seats, a sofa and table for you to enjoy a glass of something bubbly or a hot cuppa when you need that quiet time to just sit and listen to the only sounds in the woods – birds cheeping, animals rustling around and the thumping of the horses hooves, plus the occasional neigh and baa.
Amelie and Charlie were besides themselves with excitement (as were we to be honest). When we walked into the lodge we were gobsmacked at how rustic and gorgeous it was. There was a living area complete with a log burner, games for the children and a sofa to relax on. Within the living area was a stunning wooden kitchen housing a large solid wood dining table. Next, the children’s room. This was possibly one of the best rooms I’ve ever seen. It had a cubby for the children to play in, a desk and a ladder to climb up to go to bed. The wooden features of this lodge made it extremely cosy, really something I would have never of expected in a glamping lodge it was more like an apartment.
The bathroom had a huge shower, luxury toiletries and enough space for all the family. The main bedroom comprised of a large four poster bed complete with an electric blanket that was already turned on and heating up the sheets just nicely. There was another bedroom just off the main room with two single beds – also with electric blankets – a book case full with stories and cuddly toys. The attention to detail was second to none, everything had been thought out, the quality of the kitchen and its utensils were out of this world – a proper rural country kitchen overlooking fields of horses and sheep, it was perfect.
There were so many lovely activities to be explored:-
A petting zoo
Walks through the woods to spot Deer
BBQs under the stars
Towards the entrance of the ranch is a gorgeous little hut, more like an old Sheppard hut which has been turned into a shop. The produce is local and of outstanding quality, as with everything you find at Loose Reins. It really is a high end establishment with so much to offer families, couples and people just wanting to escape for the weekend. I cannot praise the staff enough for the wonderful time we had, the children did not want to leave. As you can see from the photos we had an amazing weekend break which was full of adventures, new experiences and meeting new friends. I would love to return to Loose Reins again as we made so many lovely memories.
They have just been awarded the coveted Recognition Of Service Excellence (ROSE AWARD) 2019 and so well deserved, the lovely staff truly did go above and beyond for us when we stayed at Loose Reins.
** Our stay at Loose Reins was in conjunction with a previous Playmobil press trip. I have not been asked in any way to review Loose Reins I just wanted to share our wonderful experience as I had so many messages via social media asking what it was like **
