Sleepovers have come a long way since I was a child. Whenever I was invited to a sleepover it usually involved taking my very old and very thing nylon brown sleeping bag, a change of clothes and loads of snacks for those midnight feasts. We would camp out on my friend’s front room floor with a cushion from their sofa, watch 80s movies, drink copious amounts of cherryade, stomp crisps into the carpet and eventually fall asleep.
Nowadays there is a whole new platform for the Sleepover, something a little more comfortable and luxurious. As the summer holidays were coming to an end I wanted to celebrate and give the children a little last treat before they returned to school where they would be bogged down with spellings, reading and lots of learning. Luxella Sleepovers got in touch with me through Instagram to see if I wanted to collaborate with them, well I jumped at the chance – this was going to be a perfect opportunity to host an End of Summer Sleepover (Slumber Party).
It’s all very strange how this came about as I had been pinning for ages – on Pinterest – a birthday ideas board for Amelie’s birthday in January (I like to start early). I had a vision of little teepees with fairy lights, snuggly throws and little breakfast trays but couldn’t find a company local to me, until Luxella got in touch.
The company has been set up by two absolutely wonderful sisters, Ella and Jayne. They are based in Exeter, Devon, so not far from me at all. Luxella Sleepovers offer unique custom sleepovers, balloon decorations, hen dos and pamper nights such as a mummy pamper with prosecco – how brilliant!
THE CIRCUS THEMED SLEEPOVER
We chose a circus themed sleepover which included;
Popcorn & Accessories
When the girls arrived I was a little unsure of how they would set everything up, I was totally put at ease by both Ella and Jayne they were so friendly and even entertained Charlie with a huge red balloon and hula hoop. They had absolutely everything they needed to start prepping for the sleepover, upon chatting to the girls you could tell how passionate, creative and excited they were for their new venture. The attention to detail was outstanding everything had been thought through and I was so impressed that the teepees were handmade. I was intrigued to find out about the balloon decorations as I had seen pictures of huge balloon garlands draped over doorways and wondered how this was done. Jayne explained she only used natural tree latex balloons filled with air not helium.
We decided to leave the girls to it and return when everything was set up. I was so giddy coming back to the house not knowing what awaited us inside, it was like an episode of Changing Rooms (showing my age there!!). When we pulled up there was a gorgeous bunch of baby pink confetti filled balloons outside, the children were beyond excited walking into the house, I captured the moment on Instagram Stories if you want to see their reaction (it is under Summer highlights). What awaited us behind the door was to say the least, absolutely AMAZING!!! The set up was a picture perfect Pinterest dream, it was like something from a movie, everything had its place, the fairy lights were twinkling the little breakfast trays were positioned with treats of popcorn and marshmallows – what lucky children we had.
Obviously the kiddies were eager to get in and test out their beds for the evening, they were treated to masks and hula hoops. They had the best time making lots of memories together and what an experience they had. 4 out of 5 fell asleep in the teepees, they all looked pretty comfortable.
I think Luxella Sleepovers are fantastic, they are so versatile, you don’t need a massive space to accommodate, everything is set up with precise precision and taken down in the same way. The attention to detail speaks volumes, I love that Ella and Jayne are such perfectionist, they listen to your requests, make suggestions and create a wonderland in your home. They have so many brilliant ideas and please do not be put off thinking that a sleepover is just for birthday parties. As we proved it can be for any occasion, I really love the idea of a mummy sleepover you could incorporate this into a Baby Shower idea for the mum-to-be, or as a special treat for your little ones, the possibilities are endless. I think it is just what is needed in Devon and Somerset – a local company providing an excellent bespoke experience.
